How to get (more) orders on Fiverr? — Part 1
Hi there!
My name is Ștefan and I am a freelancer working in the copywriting/content writing field. I started my Fiverr account in May 2020, and by September 2020 I got promoted to Seller Level Two. The road to the badge was quite complicated, but it taught me a lot of things I wish I would know earlier.
Since the Covid-19 pandemic left many people without a job, the freelancing platforms experienced significant growth in users number. But due to the increased competition, a lot of freelancers have hard times when it comes to getting orders.
So let’s get to work and find out how you can get more orders on Fiverr.
Step 1 — Optimize Your Gig
The first thing a potential customer notices about you is your gig. But before actually seeing your offer the client sees tens (if not hundreds) of other freelancers offering the same service. This is why you should always take a step further and make your gig stand out.
One thing you can do is come up with a catchy and interesting title for your gig. Say you are looking for a logo creator and you get to choose between two freelancers that have similar profiles yet different gig titles.
I will make a logo for you vs. I will create a unique and astonishing logo for your company.
Which one would you choose? The answer speaks for itself.
Another crucial thing is related to optimizing your gig for a particular query. If you’re writing blogs make sure to mention this aspect in every field (title, thumbnail, description, tags). Consistency is the key to SEO success on Fiverr.
Step 2 — Optimize Your Profile
Say you’re looking for someone to write a blog post for you. Again, you got to choose between two freelancers that have 5-star ratings. One of them has a blank profile, while the other one has plenty of information about their experience, education, certificates, as well as a short biography.
Which one would you choose?
NOTE: When optimizing your Fiverr profile make sure you balance relevance and marketability. A potential client is probably not interested in the fact that you’ve been on the high-school basketball team. Yet, depending on your area of expertise, some less relevant info may improve your profile’s marketability. For example, if you’re a logo designer, telling people about your logos being used by a certain notorious company will boost your success rate.
Step 3 — Do Your Best
This is the most important thing. Let’s face the reality. Orders won’t come by themselves. Clients won’t knock at your door, begging you to work for them. (At least not now). This is why you should treat all project and potential customers with the same amount of interest and respect.
Putting your best effort into someone’s project is very likely to turn them into a repetitive buyer. And, according to many marketing experts, maintaining a client is way easier than getting a new one. This is one of the reasons why you should do your best to get your customers to work with you on a long-term basis.
Doing your best starts with actually reading buyer requests. If you send the same repetitive reply you will probably end up wondering why you don’t have any orders at all.
Conclusion — How To Get Orders On Fiverr
To put everything in a nutshell, there are certain steps you should take to get more orders on Fiverr. What worked for me may not work for you. So keep in mind that succeeding on Fiverr is all trial-and-error. Find what works for you and your niche.
Also, to prevent your gig from tanking, make sure you avoid all the commonly-encountered mistakes.
